Interacting with the Report
As the district math coordinator, you want to determine which grades need the most support based on the relative progress index.
- Click the Reports tab.
- Select Value-Added under the District Reports heading.
- In the filter panel, select the Relative Progress columns needed under Data to Display.
- In the Tests and Subjects section, clear the check box for IRI.
- Click the arrow to expand the ISAT filter.
- Clear the check boxes for all subjects except math.
- The relative progress data for math in the most recent year appears in the report.
As superintendent, you would like to determine whether a support program for fifth-grade math has produced positive relative progress and achievement results over the last two years.
- Click the Reports tab.
- Select Value-Added under the District Reports heading.
- In the filter panel, select the Relative Progress and Achievement columns needed under Data to Display.
- In the Tests and Subjects section, clear the check box for IRI.
- Click on the arrow next to the ISAT filter to expand it.
- Clear the check boxes for all subjects except math.
- Expand the menu for math.
- Expand the menus for Gain and Predictive and clear the check boxes for all grades except fifth.
- Under Years, select the check boxes for the two most recent years of reporting.
- The relative progress and achievement data appears in the report.
As a district math coach, you are meeting with the math department to show their students' achievement upon exiting each grade.
- Click the Reports tab.
- Select Value-Added under the District Reports heading.
- In the filter panel, select the Achievement columns desired under Data to Display.
- In the Tests and Subjects section, clear the check box for IRI.
- Click on the arrow next to the ISAT filter to expand it.
- Deselect all subjects except math.
- Expand the menu for math.
- Expand the menus for Gain and Predictive to deselect any grade that you don't want to view.
- Under Years, select the check boxes for the years you want to view.
- The data appears in the report.
As the math coordinator, you are documenting the results of a grant supporting your students' learning in math. Use the District Value-Added report to find the math relative progress indexes of last year's fifth-grade cohort over the past two years.
- Click the Reports tab.
- Select Value-Added under the District Reports heading.
- In the filter panel, select the Relative Progress columns needed under Data to Display.
- In the Tests and Subjects section, clear the check box for IRI.
- Click on the arrow next to the ISAT filter to expand the menu.
- Clear the check boxes for all subjects except math.
- Expand the menu for math.
- Expand the menus for Gain and Predictive and clear the check boxes for all grades except fifth.
- Under Years, select the check boxes for the years you want to view.
- The data appears in the report.
The school board asked for your assistance in recognizing schools in the district that exhibit high relative progress in math.
- Click the Reports tab.
- Select Value-Added under the District Reports heading.
- In the filter panel, select the Relative Progress Indicator check box under Data to Display.
- In the Tests and Subjects section, clear the check box for IRI.
- Click on the arrow next to the ISAT filter to expand the menu.
- Deselect all subjects except math.
- In the Relative Progress Indicator section, clear the Meets, Below, and Well Below check boxes.
- Under Years, select the check boxes for the years you want to view.
- The data appears in the report.
As the chief academic officer, you are preparing for a vertical team meeting with elementary and middle school math teachers. At this meeting, you want to display math relative progress results and discuss the trends.
- Click the Reports tab.
- Select Value-Added under the District Reports heading.
- In the filter panel, select the Relative Progress and Achievement columns needed under Data to Display.
- In the Tests and Subjects section, clear the check box for IRI.
- Click on the arrow next to ISAT.
- Deselect all subjects except math.
- Under Years, select the check boxes for the years you want to view.
- The data appears in the report.
As a state leader, you want to determine whether five districts that implemented a pilot program for Reading have experienced positive relative progress in the past year.
- Click the Reports tab.
- Select Value-Added under the District Reports heading. Change the currently selected District to the first of the districts desired if needed.
- In the filter panel, under the Districts and Schools, click Add a Comparison. A new District and Schools… drop-down menu populates.
- Select one of the Districts that you want to compare from the drop-down menu.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all the districts are added. You can add up to 10 districts to the comparison list.
- In the Test and Subjects section, deselect all subjects except Reading.
- The growth data for Reading in five districts appears and can be compared.
